Adult-Teen Acting Class: July 1-29

Lori McDaniel & Brian Latour to teach Adult-Teen Scene Study Class July 1-29


Murray Arts Council (MAC) is hosting an Acting Scene Study class on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm from July 1 through 29 at MAC facility, located at 120 N. Third Avenue in Chatsworth.  The class, for ages 15 and older, will be taught by Lori McDaniel and Brian Latour. The class is $50 per student and includes four instructional classes with a final “performance” for family and friends at the final class.

Students may sign up for the class on MAC’s website at murray-arts.com or follow the link provided on the Facebook event for the class located on MAC’s page - @murraycountyartscouncil.  No prior experience is required.  The instructors will go over the basics of acting, blocking, stage directions, etc. while working on scenes from well-known plays. MAC President Lori McDaniel & Brian Latour, Branch Manager of the Chatsworth-Murray County Library will teach the class.

Ms. McDaniel directed seven years of summer youth theatre productions for Murray Arts Council at Pleasant Valley Innovative School including “A Lighter Shade of Noir,” “The Stinky Cheese Man,” “Schoolhouse Rock Jr.,” “Junie B. Jones: The Musical” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Each summer, more than 20 local youth participated in her program. Additionally, McDaniel served as Executive Director of Dalton Little Theatre for over four years and has directed, acted or sung in concert for many productions at Dalton Little Theatre, Artistic Civic Theatre and the Creative Arts Guild over several decades.

Latour started acting at while a student at Northwest Whitfield High School and has appeared in multiple mainstage shows at Dalton Little Theatre. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from Columbus State University. Some of his favorite roles include Peter in "The Pavilion", Richard Willey in "Out of Order" and Mr. Webb from "Our Town." Latour is Branch Manager for the Chatsworth-Murray County Public Library.
